Crossexamined by Mr Slade:-

I did not fall down. I saw 2 or 3 fall down. I was some

distance off. They fell when they were running away. I was

afraid so I took myself off. When the sergeant first came out I went into the street & or 4 feet off. I went first some

distance and returned. It was when I came back I saw the

kicking. At first I ran 5 or 6 feet away. I was only about 3

feet off when the kicking took place.

brothel after a hawker to see whether he had a license and met the girl there whom he knew, and chatted with her, and

then dispersed the crowd, and calls:-

I remember the evening of 3rd August. I had gone to visit a friend in Temple Street, Yaumati. I do not live in that house (No 60) I had some from Shaukiwan that day. While I was there I saw the sergeant come in (accused) I was there in the sitting room on the ground floor buying things to eat.

A hawker came in. He came in first and the sergeant afterwards

When the dergeant came in he spoke to me first. Then he asked the hawker to produce his license and then he did, and the Sergeant saw it and returned it and the hawker then went away.

The sergeant said a few words to me and I went into the

kitchen and he went with me and we spoke a few words. He came out with a piece of wood and waived it to the crowd to go away. I took it away from him and he went out and waived his hands like that (shows) telling the people to go away. First he told them to go away. Then took the wood. Then he
